  • Business information — business name, address, type of business, and number of locations
  • Contact information — primary contact name, email address, and phone number
  • Billing information — mailing address, payment method details (processed securely through our payment processor), and invoice history
  • Usage data — bandwidth usage, connection logs, service tier, and technical performance data associated with your account
  • Website and communication data — when you visit race.com, we collect standard web log data including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referral source
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 4 for full details

We do not collect personal consumer data from your customers. If your use of our services involves transmitting customer data, please see Section 7 regarding business customer data processing.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Service delivery — provisioning your fiber connection, managing network infrastructure, and ensuring service reliability
  • Billing and payments — generating invoices, processing payments, and maintaining account records
  • Customer support — responding to service inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues, and scheduling installations or maintenance
  • Service improvement — analyzing usage patterns to improve network performance, capacity planning, and product development
  • Communications — sending service notifications, maintenance alerts, billing statements, and (with your consent) marketing communications about Race products and offers
  • Legal compliance — meeting obligations under applicable law, including FCC and CPUC regulations governing telecommunications providers

We will not use your information for purposes materially different from those described above without notifying you and, where required, obtaining your consent.

3. Information Sharing

Race Communications does not sell your personal or business information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — we work with vendors who assist in delivering our services (payment processors, network monitoring tools, billing platforms). These providers access only the information necessary to perform their functions and are contractually required to maintain confidentiality
  • Legal compliance — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or lawful government request, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Race Communications, our customers, or the public
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, customer information may be transferred as part of that transaction, with appropriate notice provided

We do not share your information with advertising networks, data brokers, or third-party marketers without your explicit consent.

4. Cookies & Tracking

Race.com uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate our website and improve your experience. The types of cookies we use include:

  • Session cookies — temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser. Used to maintain your session when using account management tools
  • Analytics cookies — we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website, which pages are most useful, and where visitors come from. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Preference cookies — these cookies remember your choices (such as cookie consent status) so you are not asked repeatedly

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect website functionality. We do not use cookies to track your activity across third-party websites.

5. Data Security

Protecting your business information is a responsibility we take seriously. Our security practices include:

  • TLS/SSL encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers
  • Encrypted storage of sensitive account and billing data
  • Restricted internal access — only employees who need your information to perform their job functions are authorized to access it
  • Regular security assessments and staff training on data handling practices
  • Payment card data is handled exclusively by PCI-DSS compliant payment processors; Race does not store full payment card numbers

No security system is impenetrable. In the event of a data breach that affects your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law, including California's data breach notification requirements.

6. Your Rights

You have rights regarding the personal information we hold about you or your business:

  • Access — you may request a copy of the information we hold about your account
  • Correction — you may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion — you may request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records (such as billing history)
  • Opt-out of marketing — you may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting us directly

California residents — under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), you have additional rights including the right to know what personal information has been collected, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@race.com or call 877-722-3833. We will respond to verified requests within 45 days.

7. Business Customer Data

For business accounts, Race Communications acts as a service provider — we process data on behalf of your business to deliver the connectivity services you have subscribed to. We do not use data transmitted over your connection for our own commercial purposes beyond what is necessary to operate the network.

If your business operates under regulatory frameworks that require a formal data processing agreement (such as HIPAA-covered healthcare organizations or businesses subject to GDPR), please contact your account manager or reach out to privacy@race.com to request a Data Processing Addendum. We will work with you to ensure your compliance requirements are addressed.

Race Communications complies with applicable telecommunications privacy law, including CPNI (Customer Proprietary Network Information) regulations under federal law.
